Abstract As for a country, national security is the center for its survival and development. In different international orders, the content and structures of security environment have different meanings. With the present international political and economic pattern, the connotation and extension of national security has greatly changed, and a new topic of the research of national security is being put forward. At the third meeting of the ninth People's Representative Conference of China, the government put forward the strategy of promoting the development of the western. It is another economic strategy performed to promote the development of the national economy after carrying out the policy of reform and opening-up, and it's a synthesis national strategy for improving our country's national strength. Mainly for the sake of national security, by analyzing the role that western development plays in the present national security circumstances, this thesis points out that the development of western China needs not only the strategy of economic development and construction of modern security factors, including politics, military, technology, and ecology, etc. It has more immediate significance.
